Who We Are…And Why Partner With Rewire Travel?
Travel can be transformative. It changes your perspective, creates memories that last a lifetime, and restores your sense of self in the world. And at its core, it’s also just plain fun. At our best, we want to be amazed, to laugh, to take it all in.
But planning travel doesn’t always feel that simple. It can be intimidating, complicated, even confusing. And of course, things change. You may now have kids joining your trip, have to learn some new technology, or deal with crowds chasing the same photo. And with so many voices out there — influencers, package deals, “must-see” lists — it’s easy to feel stuck with a trip that doesn’t actually fit you.
That’s where we come in. Rewire Travel exists to change the way you plan. We don’t hand you cookie-cutter itineraries, push filler stops, or shuffle you onto a bus just to check boxes. Instead, we take the time to understand why you’re traveling, what life looks like for you right now, and what kind of experience would feel most meaningful.
From there, we draw on years of real-world travel (across continents, life stages, and group sizes) to design a trip that fits you, your people, and your vibe. It’s not about more; it’s about what’s right.
Because the trip you’re looking for isn’t out of reach. It’s ready to be discovered.
Your Rewire Team
Meet Sean and Michelle, your Rewire Travel team.
We’ve been traveling as much of the world as possible since 2005, balancing full-time jobs and raising a young family with adventure as best we could. Whether backpacking across a continent, taking our three kids on their dream vacation, or squeezing in a long weekend to reconnect and recharge, we have been lucky enough to explore every year for the past 20 years.
We’ve seen a lot, learned even more, and would love the opportunity to share our insights and experiences for whatever type of journey you want to try!
Sean
Sean caught the travel bug early in life, piling into the minivan and driving across America with his family as a kid each summer.
In college, he studied for a semester in Belgium, taking advantage of its location and transportation options to visit as much of Europe as possible.
After graduation, Sean and 2 friends embarked on a 40 day backpacking adventure through Asia, stopping in Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Thailand (pre-cell phone era!).
His love of travel now fully entrenched, Sean sought to take at least two trips a year, one domestic and one international. Work helped, as he was sent to live in Singapore for a few months and frequently had to visit Europe for business.
After meeting Michelle, the trips continued to evolve. Trekking across Iceland, going to the World Cup in Brazil, exploring the Rockies, attending a wedding in India, and spending a long weekend in Maine, just to name a few.
Sean not only loved to travel, but to approach it in as many different ways as he could, whether a relaxing couples retreat or an action-packed adventure with a big group.
Adding kids to the mix was an interesting challenge, but they are now airport and roadtrip pros, so they are great additions and participants in dad’s crazy adventures.
Sean’s greatest skill is building trips around the vibe and experience, not just the destination. He has significant experience with a wide variety of travel (vibe, group, destination), which makes him very useful in figuring out how to shape a trip for you.
Michelle
Born and raised in Texas, Michelle had traveled some but really started to catch the travel bug when she met Sean. An award-winning interior designer by day, Michelle embraced exploring different cultures and locales, always game for whatever idea Sean had come up with for the next trip.
You can find Michelle finding the best coffee spots, wandering through local antique shops and art stores, and reminding Sean that it’s ok to sit, relax, and do as little as possible on a sunny afternoon in a beautiful place.
Michelle also excels in her road trip mom role, knowing how to prep and plan for a car, RV, or plane full of kids.
Some of Michelle’s fondest memories include the first time someone had her name on a sign at an airport (she still has it), getting completely into soccer at the World Cup despite never attending a game prior, and laughing at not knowing which fork to use in the Michelin star restaurant in Paris.
If Sean is making the plans, Michelle is refining it, ensuring the small moments and unique touches are just as important as the big ones.
Michelle stops to smell the roses, and some of their best memories are the days where they take it slow and immerse themselves in wherever they are.
The Rewire Travel Origin Story
[cue overly dramatic music]
Sean and Michelle met in 2009, and soon after Sean began to plan all sorts of adventures because he had found his travel partner for life. From celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans to strolling Las Ramblas in Barcelona,we began a lifetime of travel, always seeking new adventures and perspective.
As time went on, our careers picked up speed and our young family grew to 5. Both things made going on trips far more complicated, but we always found a way to make time and explore somewhere new.
With kids now officially part of our travel crew, the type of trips shifted and that passion to explore began to be passed to the next generation. The itineraries and destinations started to evolve, but the fun and adventure remained.
After some soul searching and tough conversations, Sean decided to leave Corporate America and take a completely new path in his life. He decided to follow a passion that he had merely dismissed as a hobby.
He wanted to help others have the same types of experiences he has been lucky enough to have in his travels. And he wanted to make it easy, make it accessible, make it possible.
Michelle encouraged him to follow his passion, and to provide her insights and experience as well.
